Earlier today Qik on Android was updated with version 0.1.56. Apart from a number of bug fixes, better performance and better battery consumption, this includes:
Capture what you are doing in DVD quality:
A month or so back, we introduced a private beta to enable Droid users to capture in DVD resolution (720×480). Thanks to all the great feedback from our beta users, this is now available from the Android Market. You can selectively set this high resolution from the Settings in the client.
Please note that if you are using the private beta client for Droid, you’ll first need to uninstall the beta client and then install the new client from the Android Market.
Support for Chinese:
Qikkers in China can now experience the Qik client in Chinese. Just make sure your phone locale is set to Chinese and you are good to go.
As usual we are always eager to get your thoughts and feedback. So, give this a go and let us know what you think by sending an email to support@qik.com.
But you still haven't enabled video editing for the Motorola Droid on Verizon. I appreciate the better quality, and it works well, but come on. I put my video on offline mode and the thumbnail STILL doesn't show up and you can't edit it. Please fix this. Please. Still a good product, but I'd use it WAY more if it did video editing.

Hi Folks, your new client does not provide anything near “high quality” (still saves 320×240 to SD) on the European version of the Droid, the Motorola Milestone — see here: http://qik.ly/uFtP (Milestone == Droid with European wireless technology). Would you please check your device checks and enable decent quality for the Milestone as well?

Using QIK with droid in conjuction with livestream.com premium.
Some comments: First, this is cool. I've got a hyperlocal community and we've been streaming live stuff from the studio for six or more months. I've upped the streaming frequency to 24/7 and we're about to hit a million minutes of viewing by January 1st.
I've done two live to QIK to livestream pieces and the biggest problem is lip-sync seems a little off.
One thing I had hoped I could do – audio is important – is use a bluetooth headset/mic combo for a remote microphone instead of having to rely on the microphone on the droid. Next time you're playing with the code, if you can implement an option for the source of the sound, that would be awsome.
In regard the sync, I've been on highest quality – the 720×480 resolution – and I figure that I might need to drop the level as streaming at that image size no doubt will tax the 3g network.
Second
I would like to submit that you change the app to match what I used on my samsung omnia. I liked being able to mute the sound and also use the led light in low light situations.
Hi – we just updated the Android client to support DVD capture resolution for the Motorola Milestone.
