Breaking TV News: ‘First On-Air and Streaming Live Online’ Thanks to Qik!

Minutes after a plane crashed on January 25th, KESQ News Channel 3 HD in Palm Springs, CA was the first on-air with streaming live video on KESQ.com using Qik.  I’m Mike Daniels a reporter at the station.  With Qik installed on my HTC Touch Pro, as soon as we got on scene we were streaming live mobile video on Qik.com and KESQ.com.  As we were quickly setting up our Live Mobile Newsroom, we were simultaneously streaming video back to the station using my cellphone with Qik installed.  After we were set up and started interviewing eyewitnesses, I was able to Qik their interviews as well.  It gave our viewers live and instant information about the crash.

Here is the Qik video. The interview with the witness of the crash is four minutes from the end of the video.

My news station has the industry’s most advanced equipment and Qik complimented it very well.  As we continue to deliver news faster, Qik is outdoing the best.

I have found Qik can be used in so many creative and helpful ways.  Whether it’s a “Behind the scenes look” at news stories or live streaming video as breaking news is happening. With Qik by your side, you can’t go wrong.  I enjoy using Qik away from work as well.  Whether it be a day at Disneyland or by soaking up some California sun by the pool.

So go out there and capture some news…of course using Qik.

Best,

Mike Daniels
