About the new Qik video service on the Sprint EVO 4G phone

Well, there’re a number of rumors flying around that the 2-way Qik mobile video service will require a premium subscription. We wanted to clarify what that really means. Firstly, rest assured that the core Qik service that lets you communicate live from your phone to other phones, web and desktop will be FREE. Yes – this means that the core capability of doing 2-way Qik video chat will be FREE for Sprint EVO 4G users. The subscription fee will be for some advanced premium features that we are working on, which we will be announcing on June 4th – the day the amazing HTC EVO 4G phone launches.

So, tune back in on June 4th for a complete list of features of the new Qik along with the optional advanced premium features for you to enjoy!

Go live with real-time effects with Qik Video Camera Pro!

Hey iPhone Qikkers – We have an awesome update for the Qik Video Camera Pro on the iPhone App Store – just in time for you to record and share your moments during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. The highlights of this update are:

While you are sharing video live from your iPhone you can now apply any of the amazing effects and have that show up live on the web. Now how cool is that! Take a look at the video below and see for yourself.


Take pictures while you share live!

Well, we always wondered why are we forced to decide up front whether to take a photo or record a video. Why can’t there be a simple and seamless way to move from one mode to the other? Well, with this update of Qik Video Camera Pro we have made our first attempt to do just that. Start recording a video or sharing live. Then at any point in time you can take a photo while recording just by scrolling to and clicking the Capture Photo effect from the Effects wheel. The photo is also automatically sent to your camera roll.

Google I/O from the eyes of Qikkers

Google I/O and Sprint EVO 4G might have been the most talked about topics last week. We were proud to be part of both. Qik was one of the Developer Sandbox participants at I/O – Google’s largest developer conference held from 19 to 20 May this year at Moscone Centre, San Francisco. 4,000 plus I/O attendees who received EVO 4G all have Qik pre-loaded on the phone. Many of them came to our booth to see the demo and immediately started using Qik.

The Lead411 research team scoured through 600+ press releases and business articles to gain insight into which are the fastest growing companies across the US.

It’s now official! Qik to bring 2-way video chat with the launch of HTC EVO 4G

Finally it is out!!! Earlier today Sprint announced HTC EVO(TM) 4G phone that will debut on June 4 packed with industry leading features including 2-way video chat and simultaneous voice and data and HD video capture (press release). And guess what – Qik will not only be preloaded on this amazingly powerful device but also powering the 2-way video chat

Qik will be preloaded on these devices and will be leveraging the front and back camera to bring the first ever 2-way video chat service on these amazingly powerful Android phones. To quote from the press release:

“With the launch of HTC EVO 4G, Sprint customers will be able to enjoy capabilities they have never experienced before with a new video chat service from Qik. The two-way voice and video capability will be available as an upgrade to the preloaded Qik app on HTC EVO 4G to enable conversational, interactive, real-time sharing between mobile devices or from mobile-to-desktop“.
