Qik also on HTC Touch Pro

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Well, that was fast! In addition to the new releases we launched yesterday, we’re now pretty pleased to let you know that Qik is working on the HTC Touch Pro. This is a very hot handset and it’s really cool to be running on it already.

Again, big thanks to Qik’s amazing developers – and the users whose feedback really helps us to bring you better software.

Qik now on HTC devices and more

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Not a day goes by that we don’t get requests for Qik to support more devices beyond the several dozen on which our software already works. We have great teams in Russia and the US who are focused on just that: bringing Qik to as many handsets as possible.

So we’re pretty excited today to announce that Qik has released Windows Mobile clients which work on a variety of new phones. They include:

  • HTC Touch Dual
  • HTC Touch Diamond
  • HTC Touch Pro
  • HTC TyTn-II
  • AT&T Tilt
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

This is in addition to Qik on the Samsung SPH-i325(ACE), which we announced last week. Version 3.16 of Qik for the iPhone went live last week, too, with location support and the best video quality for iPhone on the market. We’re very much focused on both releasing Qik clients for as many handsets as we can, and iterating existing clients to bring the best possible experience to all our users.

So which handsets are next? Check back soon to find out!

Republican National Convention on Qik

Monday, September 1st, 2008

As you may have read, violence has broken out at the RNC between protesters and police. Citizen journalists from The Uptake are getting notice for their videos showing the scale of what is happening, including being tear-gassed and arrested.

If you are at the RNC, please add yourself to the RNC event page so that all of your videos from Minnesota will appear there. Keep checking back as this situation develops.
