“Now that’s what I call interactive television”, says BBC

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

BBC News today reported from World Economic Forum on how Qik was used as an interactive TV solution. Link to the report.

“Robert was filming Mark not with a big video camera but a small Nokia mobile phone, that sent a live video stream of the interview to his website. So far, so ambitious. Now comes the stunner. Experimenting with automated Tagging and Titling for videos

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Typing from phones can sometimes be painful – especially if you are on the move. Hence, we have been thinking how we can make it easy for Qikkers to add Titles and Tags qikly :) . Then it hit upon us – why not ask our users to “Tell us” what they are up to and we use that information to create the initial Title/Tag(s)

Starting this week we’ll start experimenting with this automated mechanism for older videos that don’t have any Tags/Titles. Then with the next release of Qik we’ll prompt Qikkers to “Tell us” what they are up to when they press “Stream”. All you need to do is then speak your answer and we’ll take care of setting the initial Title/Tag(s).
